Ferrari 512BB Harksound 1:43

Hello to everyone,
i first have to introduce myself a little. I`m still watching this forum now for a long time and this will be my first WIP , hope you like it. Excuse my bad english sometimes, but i try to give my best to tell you what i`m doing here

I`ve been modeling for a couple of years now and in the past i build the most models straight from the box. This is one of my favorite models and i`d like to share it with you, it is not the beginning, but cleaning parts and painting is to boring i think, so i start at a point when everything is painted and ready to be assembled. Some parts are done, but a lot of work is waiting to finish this all open kit from Provence Moulage. It took about 4 weeks to get to this point, i`m not in hurry and i hope you enjoy this build.
Here is the point i`m standing actualy, Body is painted, decaled and claer coated. Engine and all interieur parts are painted too and i started to build up the inner parts. Only the rear wing needs some chrome paint or even bare metal foil, i will see how i fix that point.
This is my work bench at moment, commends are welcome

Edit: Please excuse the bad picture quality, i will do some more closer the next days

Re: Ferrari 512BB Harksound 1:43

A little progress this week, i had a lot of time for modeling and get managed to build up a lot.
First i completed the interieur, did some wiring and plumbing, decaled a few parts and simulated some electronic buttons with some colour touch ups. the decals on the seat belt is still missing on this pic, but i applied it.
Engine is painted, a bit wiring is done to it, airinlets are painted too, dumpers are painted but needed scratch build springs, and the coveres for the valve intakes are painted and the belts are added.
For the front i did the cooler plumbing, air inlets are waiting to be instaled, but this is coming later, i will finish the engine bay first.
The photoetched rear frame is wrong that way, i have to cut some parts away and scratch build new parts from steel wire.

Now the engine bay is completed, only the kit parts! I rebuild the rear frame to 50% with steel wires in different sizes, hardly to be seen on the pics. I looked at some references on gurney flap, but to my surprise ech and every car has different frames, wiring and plumbing, at least i found different kind of gear boxes
However, i dicieded to build some parts that are missing in the kit and finaly the frame turned out more detailed Now it starts to look like the real car, but i found another bad point in the kit: totaly missing rear suspensionarms! It looks like i have to scratch build them too, it will be hardly visible at the end, but it is a must i think, don`t you?

Here some other parts are waiting to be apllied, but i first have to wind some springs for the rear dumpers.

Here the back is allmost finished, exapt a few details. I ajusted the rear wheels, glued the dumpers to the frame and added a lot of plumbing. I am happy with the result till now, only some cleaning has to be done finaly. There is a lot of fine resin dust on the model cause i had to grind a few areas before it was possible to attach the parts. i repainted the areas, but cleaning up is one of the last points on the list, so don`t worry about it, it is only under the macro lence to be seen
As you can see, there are only the holders for the exaust pipes missing, i will do them the next days when i have enough patience for it.

Today i started on the front end.
The front was instaled, air intakes added and after watching references i scratch build a small frame to hold the front in position like the real car has. It`s just build from 0,3mm steel wire, painted in flat black. Next point is the missing undertray, i scratch build it too. First i made a template from paper, then i cutted it from a thin plastic sheet, it was more a foil, but hard enough. i painted it semi gloss black and glued it in position. Now the front looks more realistic i think.
The bad news is, i have to repaint some areas cause the paint looks bad after so much finger tipping, and like the rear suspensionarms, the front ones are missing too in the kit and had to be scratch build too
However, it will be the stuff for the next update

Re: Ferrari 512BB Harksound 1:43

Thank`s for commend
Yes, building 1:43 all open is a kind of proofing patience, but they look great when done and my collection is all in 1:43, that`s why i did it.
I got the 3M Version too, it will be one of my future projects. Now i have to wait a few days to let the rear wing dry, i painted it and leave it for drying a few days. Till i can do the final steps, i put another 1:43 on my bench to be completed, i`ve done it a while ago, only have to fix it on the base plate, i will post some pics later this afternoon

Re: Ferrari 512BB Harksound 1:43

Here we go with the last update, i finaly finshed the model.
I installed strach build front suspensions, front wheels, the rear wing, cowling fasteners, engine kill switch for the body and more details like tow hook etc. The figure is done too, i apllied a few decals on it, and it turned out great. I build up the model in an exclusive Acryl box, and it turned out like a real one i think, i love it
Here are some pics

Only to aks you one favorite, i have trouble with microdust everytime i try to shoot pics, what are you doing to take this away infornt of foto shooting? I`m bored of this and all i did was not succesfull, i have to clean up the model for another time. but all over i`m happy about it.

Commends welcome

Very nice build. I always want a PM 512 BB but it's always a bit too expensive. To get the dust off, try camera air blower brush. Tamiya model wax also helps keep the surface static-free.

Yes it was an expensive kit for this low quality, but with a lot of work it can turn out realy nice, ok there is no comparsion to a Tameo kit at the same price, but unfortunately, Tameo only does F1 cars. Next i will do will get some aftermarket parts like Tameo Shock absorbers etc. to give it a more realistic touch.

Thank you once more for the tip, but that`s what i did. The problem is not the polished paint, it is the flat paint where dust sticks realy good. I will try a wet brush to take the micro dust away, i hope this works a bit better, but the mean problem i think is, that it is not a good choice when you sand and build up models at the same working place.
But to this it was unpossible, after a few layers of paint nothing fits anymore and had to be adjusted again with sanding and filing the parts.
Let`s see how i do it a better way next time

Finaly today i decieded to do another wiper for the model, the kit one looks.....i have no words for it ^^ I found a photoetched wiper from Tron that fits much better and has a better scale, so i will change it the next days.

Re: Ferrari 512BB Harksound 1:43

Today i changed the wiper and now it`s finaly done. It`s been a tricky kit and the fitting sometimes was realy bad, but i`m happy with the result
Here is the kit etched part against the Tron part, i think it was better to change this detail.
