Oil Changes
I've been told by some people that when you have an oil change done the company doesn't really replace the filter, they just flush it out. Now, I've never really looked when I take my Sedona to Delta Sonic, I just took it at face value that the package includes a new filter, so I was getting a new filter.
Does anyone know if there is any truth to this?

Re: Oil Changes
not really true
but, it can happen with "crooked" shops if you're paranoid about it: learn to DIY; it's one of the easiest maintenance items to do at home or mark the filter with a marker and check their work afterwards or watch them like a hawk outside the shop bay door while a "grease monkey" does the work for you |

Re: Oil Changes
You can leave that fram filter on up to 3k, then remove it and change it out...
depending on what type of driving you do, the cardboard/felt endcaps may deteriorate and plug up an oil passageway... Last edited by shorod; 03-28-2012 at 12:07 PM. Reason: Spam removed, so response to spammer also removed by moderator. |

Re: Oil Changes
Glad to hear I was mis-informed. I trust my mechanic, and his oil changes are cheaper than what it would cost for me to do it myself for the most part.

Re: Oil Changes
So you are lucky to have your mechanic some mechanic really do that. They don't replace the filter. But even you trust your mechanic be cautious, so much better if you will check his work. OR much better if you will try to learn to do it your self.
