Are USB KKL VAG-COM cables car make specific?
When I look on ebay, I see that cables are labeled as VW/AUDI specific, ex:
SB OBD-II-2 KKL 409.1 OBD2 Cable VAG-COM for VW/AUDI The cable actually connects OBD-II on the vehicle to USB on computer. In the old times, this was OBD-II to COM (serial) port for ANY OBD-II compliant vehicle. But what about these OBD-II to USB cables? Aren't they just presenting COM as USB to computer since now there are almost no COM ports, and only software is for WV/AUDI? Or these cables are really WV/AUDI specific? I need someone to confirm on dispute my theory that these SB OBD-II-2 KKL cables themselves aren't WV/AUDI specific. Thanks! |
