tranny perplexing problem

I have a 2000 isuzu rodeo. The shifter indicator lights on the dash fluctuated and eventually went off. It shifts hard from 1st to 2nd and grinds coming to a stop. The cruise control does not work (All this happened at the same time). I've read many posts about it being the neutral saftey switch and I have replaced it. Nothing has changed, the lights have not come on or anything. I've checked the trans fluid and its good. Any help would be great.

Re: tranny perplexing problem

Your range selector is dirty or just replace it.

Re: tranny perplexing problem

Thanks for responding. Before posting my original thread I put a new neutral saftey switch (the small black half circular box with a wire harness on the side of the transmission) or what you call a range sensor and nothing has changed. Any other ideas.
Thanks

H'mm, that is strange, a bad range switch (aka mode switch) is the usual cause of the symptoms you describe. Had the same thing on my 2000 Trooper. If you find another cause be sure to post back.
