This morning it was below freezing and when i went to put my window down the button was stiff but i forced it down and heard a cracking sound.
Now i can only roll the driver window down. Also i can only roll down the passenger window down with the switch on the driver side. The driver side switch that goes to the driver side window no longer clicks when pressed up but does when pressed down. All the other buttons click so im thinking i broke something within the switch but im not certain. I also would like to know how to put the window up. I took the door panel off and tried pushing up on the windows but it wouldn't budge. Any idea of whats going on? edit: i have very limited experience with car electronics Last edited by soskie; 02-08-2012 at 02:26 PM. |

Do you have a DMM? With that you could find out whether the switch is broken or not. |

Re: Power window problems
you could check the feed side as well as the ground, and than check across the switch. if none of those are bad, it is probably the switch. Or you could simply use a wire with a fuse and jump the switch. It is usually fairly easy to take the switch off.

Re: Power window problems
If you have the door panel off, easy to check the switch...... disconnect the harness from the motor and attach a test light to the harness.....press switch down....it should light......press switch up....it should light.....if it doesn't light in both directions, bad switch.....
Easy to get window up.....with harness disconnected, get two jumper wires......connect the wires between the motor and harness, the opposite way they would normally go(in other words, have them come out of the harness and switch them going into the motor)...then press down and the window will go up.... |
