Could fuel filter be causing car to stall?

I have a 1999 Chevy Cav, and I recently tried to change the fuel filter, but had no luck due to the quick connect side not allowing me to release the filter, so I had to re-attach the filter. This morning, the car stalled right when I started to pull out of my space. Could it be related to the fuel filter, since I had to put the old one back? Thanks.

Re: Could fuel filter be causing car to stall?

Fuel - A bad fuel filter, fuse, relay, or a bad pump could cause your problem.
Air - Bad air filter, umetered air leaks on PCV, EGR, and Air Intake systems.
Exhaust - Plugged catalytic converters, or exhaust system.

Re: Could fuel filter be causing car to stall?

It's very likely; you may have jarred loose some debris while trying to change it that clogged the outlet side.

Your new filter should have a new quick connect clip on the inlet side so there shouldn't be any problem with you forcing the old one off. I changed mine recently and it took some fighting with it to remove it but still didn't break the old clip. Just make sure you don't damage the line itself. Pushing the towards the filter while holding it steady with your other hand and twisting it side to side worked for me (have a 2000).
