cruise control

My cruse control worked up until a few days a go when you hit the button it will not stay on

Check to make sure no applicable fuses are blown. You may have a flaky switch or possible cruise control module problem. Worse case is a bad clock spring in the steering column.

I just had this problem a few weeks ago in 2011. A small piece of plastic broke off inside the switch assembly. There are two ways to fix the problem. One is to add a shunt toggle, rocker, or push-button switch under the steering wheel so it is out of the way of the air bag. The switch connects to the top and bottom wires in the harness leading to the old switch. The other is to drill out what is left of the broken piece and replace it with part of a wire brad.
