Question no power whatsoever!

I was idling the '96 to let some radiator additive circulate...ran the a/c for about 15 minutes...shut the a/c off...raised the idle a few times...went inside to look up some tech info...came back out about 10 minutes later...the truck was shut down.

No juice at all.

NO power anywhere except at the battery (13.5 volts).

jiggled and pulled/reset the big fuses and relays at the underhood junction box...nothing.

There is no power anywhere. What the heack is going on? I could not find a fusible link or main breaker....anyone know if there is one???

Re: no power whatsoever!

If I remember right the cable goes from battery pos. to the starter and splits to fuse links from there in that year still. Let us know if the links are not at the starter and I can look it up.

Re: no power whatsoever!

I followed the "secondary" power cable over to the fuse/relay block just behind the ECM. It was all testing normal until the voltage dropped to 4-5 right at the connection. I loosened the nut, moved the cable head up and down, sprayed it off witrh brake cleaner followed by compressed air, then tightened it back down. VOILA! Everything came back on, but it was hard to start and it sputtered until the system "remembered' how to communicate between the brain and the injectors.

It's running good now, but I'm sure glad I wasn't out somewhere without tools.

Re: no power whatsoever!

clean all your battery connections. its more than that small wire couseing your problem. it will not last long and it will burn in two. with the car companys getting cheep with there grounding systems. copper cost $$ the first thing i do is add more gounds from the motor to the frame and body you would be shocked at how many problems that fixes.
