Purchase 2000 Blazer LT

I'm considering purchasing a 2000 Blazer LT 4X4 for, $1,700 (160K miles). She has a knocking motor. I currently own a 1996 Blazer 4x4 which I've owned for about six years. I've just replaced the fuel injector Spyder assembly, and had the tranny rebuilt around four years ago (At 98K miles). Current mileage = 135,000.

My approach is that I can transfer the Motor & tranny from the '96 to the 2000.

1. Would this be a simple swap?

2. Things to look out for please? (ie. during the swap)

3. How do you know if the tranfer case is any good?

4. Since I will have the motor T tranny out I should do what?

* Reason for the swap...My 1996 was bought as a salvage vehicle needs body work.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Purchase 2000 Blazer LT

personally, i'd pick it up and buy a used motor for cheap and put it in. then you'd have 2 decent blazers (and one to drive while you're working on the other).

dunno about the swap issues, im not familiar enough with the differences between those 2 years.

Personally, I'd look into a freshly rebuilt Long Block from a good reputable rebuilder before I did a switcheroo. That way, everything should go together nicely. And ditto on the $1000.

The junk yards around her would give her $300. Offer $500.
