2000 Blazer -- Is it a cpi or tbi -- And what kind of Blazer?

I don't know what kind of injection I've got. My Haynes manual shows pictures of each but my underhood doesn't match any of the underhood pictures shown. This is a little emberissing to ask as I should know this, but, from past expirence with everyone here, I feel comfortable enough to ask. What do I have a CPI or a TBI. I need to know this for future maintance.

How can I find out what style of a blazer I have? The original sticker doesn't even say, nor does the user manual. Nothing under the hood says anything either.

I don't think you have the right manual.

I believe your is MPI or CSFI.

Re: 2000 Blazer -- Is it a cpi or tbi -- And what kind of Blazer?

How can I find out which of the two. Which one is better. It's very important to know because, I will be doing a lot of work with my fuel/ignition system due to my large drop in Gas millage, exspecialy now adays. I've droped from 18.8 mpg to a 16.3 mpg with in 3 months. I need to know what type of injection i have before I start troubleshooting. I don't want install my new K & N cold air intake until I fix this problem. I don't want to just ignore it by installing the cold air intake.

When I get home from work I will take a picture of it and post it on this forum so we can figure it out. How do you post a picture here?

Mostly City, Some highway was involved, but very little. Just like You (BlazerLt) I have an LT. The digital mpg gauge works great to monitor your mpg. I always monitor it, and never delete the averages. Right now, AVERAGE, I have:

After using 450 gallons of gas (My gauge tells me this)

mpg: 16.3

I've always watched these averages

This is not the way you monitor fuel mileage.

You do it through actual numbers from filling your tank.

1.) Fill up your tank to the top. Reset the odometer.
2.) Drive till it is empty.
3.) Fill up again and write down the miles and the volume needed to fill it up.

XXXXmiles/XXXgallons = MPG

Never trust the onboard gauge.

Why wouldn't the onboard gauge be accurate? If you don't mind me asking?

It is a real basic and unaccurate.

Do what I said for the actual numbers.

Now don't take this the wrong way, but its not a good idea to run your fuel pump below 1/4 of a tank, cause it can overheat and burn out. BlazerLT is right about how to find gas mileage. The onboard computers are ok, but not incredibly reliable.

On another forum somewhere someone tested this by runnin a fuel pump dry for a couple WEEKS until they got bored with it.

That's good to know.

But, it is not a safe practise.

MPI OR CSFI?

What style of Blazer do I have? Is it the S-10 style? Why don't I know this? I should know this, I have the knowledge.
