'88 K1500 died

'88 K1500 350 - Engine running great for years, no problems. While at interstate speeds, it suddenly went silent, no misfires, no warning. There is no fire whatsoever at any plug (injectors still pumping gas just fine.) Checked all fuses, ohmed the coil, not quite right so replaced it - no change. Had the ignition control module checked at AutoZone - tested bad, new one tested good so replaced it - still no fire. Ideas?

Does it get fire out of/or at ign. coil?
Is dist turning?
Is the ign coil getting ign voltage?

Have you checked the pick up coil and wiring in bottom of dist?
Lot of times a wire is broke to it or pickup coil is bad.
Let us know what you find in these areas.

At least it was something simple. Apparently when things began to fry under the distributor cap, the button in the cap under the coil electrode charred and slightly melted the plastic around it so as to become lodged up. The cap appeared ok until I ran my finger around and discovered the button thoroughly stuck. Replaced the cap and button, truck fired right up. I should've noticed that when I replaced the ICM.

Thanks for posting back how it went.

Also make sure rotor is good and plug wires good.

Bad rotor or plug wires can cause burn out or cause arching.
