why dont u put a b18c1 in like ur name implies? j/k A b18b1 is better, use that instead, but its cheaper for a b18a1.

90-91 integra b18a1 = 130hp
92-93 integra b18a1 = 140hp
94+ integra b18b1 = 142hp

just a little difference in hp. if ur going to get a motor, get the b18b, there's plenty of them around unlike it's older bothers and has that extra little hp, also u can find some with lower milelage.

I was quoted $5-6K for an OBDII gsr swap. How many miles are on it and hows the quality and reputation of the shop?

you have to have the b series tranny even if your si tranny was good. and you dont have to have a integra ecu but it will be better for it, ive had a 94 integra, a 94 civic x and a 92 civic lx ecu all running the same old 88 integra motor so it doesnt not let them run but it wont let it run to its full potential. and that 3k doesnt saound too bad, I saw it is 2200 plus shipping from h motors so if you did it yourself youd have at least 2600 into it just to get the swap, this way its done for 3k.

Besides the HP difference, there are more difference between the B18A1 and B18B1...

90-91 B18A1: 130HP, 121 ft/lbs of torque
92-93 B18A1: 140HP, 127 ft/lbs of torque
94+ B18B1: 142HP, 127 ft/lbs of torque. I think the peak torque may hit a few hundred rpm sooner, but off the top of my head I am not sure.

also, the B18A1 (all years) is a cable tranny and uses a mechanical speedo, the B18B1 is a hydro tranny and uses an electronic speedo.

As for a swap, it's always best to do the complete swap, the ecu, tranny, motor, drive axels, etc. Most prices include all this, and the $3000 should as well I would think. $3000 for a 95 B18B1 sounds about right for the complete swap installed.

Re: b18a1 vs b18b1

no, the B18A1 was in the base model 90-93 integras, all of which are cable trannys, all integras 94+ are hydro trannys. and the B18B1 came from 94+ base tegs. if your car was cable you could bolt up a B18B1 block to your cable tranny though.
