EK Swap-B18A1/B18B1-C1Head

Alright, i need some more detailed info from you gurus of the honda world. I misplaced my book with all the motor stats, and since i have been actively working on other projects, i'm sad to say that it has slipped my mind.

If at all possible, here is what i need and what i have:

I have a 1996 EK civic, originally had the DX 1.6 sohc.
Blew motor, swapped with EX 1.6 sohc vtec.

I have had a B18B1/C1 frankenstein sittin in my garage for the last 5 years, and have been unable to find a 5 speed for it at reasonable cost, or at all for that matter.

I recently picked up a B18A1 from the 90 integra, non-vtec (Didn't really want vtec)

My question here is, Are the transmissions interchangeable from the '90 B18A1 to the newer B18B1? If this is the case, then i will be modding the newer motor, or i will hold out for a tranny, which will probably take another 5 years.

I plan on Sleeving the B18A1 block with darton sleeves, boring it .40" over, Decking the block, and running a stroker kit. But, if i can get the tranny to work without any bearing/clutch/flywheel interference, then i'll sleeve and turbo the B18B1 and put the B18A1 in my crx.

Note**I am putting the more powerful of the two (the b1/c1 in the EK)

I just haven't taken the time to pull off the tranny yet, and i like the fact that it is a cable tranny, so i don't have to screw around with hydro clutch kits and the lot for the swap.

Also, i can't remember the stats on either the A1 or the B1

can anyone give me the stock hp/torque/redline of the motors?

any help would be appreciated.

b18a/b both have 140hp and 127lb/ft torque...redline at 6800rpm i believe...so you have a ls/vtec setup and you cant find a tranny for it? do you need just the tranny or the whole auto to manual conversion? if its just the tranny you probably arent looking hard enough if your telling me you cant find one for a reasonable price...ANY B series tranny will go with that setup so get one...preferably a shorter gearing one(dont go out and get a LS tranny)...and yes you can convert hydro to cable tranny...not the really recommended thing to do and if you ask me DONT DO IT...theres no point of putting a LS tranny into your ls/vtec setup and on top of that a cable one...get a b16 or ITR tranny...a GSR at the least....

i appreciate it, but it still leaves my original question, will my 90 integra tranny fit the b1 block? I am just making sure that it will fit, with no bearing clearance problems, yada yada yada, and it will only be temporary anyway, until i can find the b series tranny from the type r civic. Reason being, i am pulling the ex motor soon, and if it will work....(for now), then i will use the ls tranny so at least the car runs, and, it will be the ls/vtec i take to have sleeved and machined, not the A1.

thanks man

YES you can use the older LS cable tranny but the b18b1 was made for a hydro but it will still work

You need to get a conversion kit from a place like Hasport. They're pretty spendy. It'd be better to just keep looking for a hydraulic clutch tranny.

thanks guys, like i said, this is only a temporary tranny, mostly so i can move it about my garage with little problem, or a short run to the corner store...

you really think i'm gonna run 500 horses to an old ls tranny?

not likely
