Here's what I've done so far: the body has been sanded down to remove lines that shouldn't be there and smooth rough edges. The engine intake on the left side was closed which is a big no-no. Opening it is tricky with the vents and all but I managed to get a good clean job done. Guess how....
![]() ![]() Sand here until the plastic is really thin. You won't be able to break through for some reason, but you can just punch the holes open with your exacto. ![]() Tidy up with thin strips of sandpaper. Resulting job is very clean.

good job on the side intakes! the model looks look sooo much better....
I wish I had a dremel tool though... I've heard ppl do this with a dremel + sander tip in less than 30 seconds!!

I just used the very same technique on my RX-7 kit for the 'cowl' vents (for lack of a better description.) Man this kit is molded thick, though! :o

looks much better with the vents open. Makes you wonder why the manufacturer didn't mould them open
