GSX1300R progress thread

Lucky me, I've had a couple days off school to model, so I show you my latest efforts:

The fearsome straight four 180HP 1.3 liter Hayabusa engine!!:

Sorry about the second pic, my camera sometimes chokes when taking macro shots

You can't really see it in the two pics, but it was given a wash of Tamiya German Grey and Neutral Grey. My goal was to preserve the aluminum luster while still being slightly ridden.

Engine + frame + swingarm:

Now I need to spray the body, so it'll be cured by the time I assemble everything..

Thanks for the comments everyone. To everybody who asked about the frame, Tamiya metalplates them in matte chrome (this kit is a good example because they include a chrome tree and a matte chrome tree so you can tell the difference).

You can touch up the spots where you cut off from the sprue with a dash of chrome silver. Sometimes I like to strip the chrome and create my own metal finish, then I use Alclad Polished Aluminum (it's a bit darker in color but just as reflective. Here's an example:

Apparently the Aoshima bike have about 5-6 different plated sprues.

Luka, the chassis comes like that. You just have to touch up the places where you cut it off the sprues with chrome silver.

Chris - 6 different types of plating? I must get an Aoshima bike kit. :o

Here are some more progress pics

Close up of some wiring...the usual Tamiya quality

A zoomed out view so you can see the brake line...Notice the muffler tips, Tamiya molded the inner muffler ring..

Functional kickstand folds up and down

Radiator with german grey wash

Handlebars with wiring to engine...notice the handlebar is crooked, I have to twist it back into place! :licker:

The body parts are all painted, unfortunately for me, the front wheel cover cracked while I was trying to assemble the front forks, have to strip/reputty/repaint the whole thing!
