Lancer Evo VI WRC Progress Thread
Now that I'm waiting for the color coat on my YZF-R1 to cure, I have nothing to do. So I am starting the Tamiya Lancer Evolution VI WRC, as driven to victory by Makinen and Mannisenmaki in the 1999 New Zealand Rally. Gonna wash and prime the body tonight and hopefully I'll be able to spray the body first this time instead of leaving it for last like the YZF
![]() Does anybody have any reference pics of the interior and undersurface chassis? I have plenty of the exterior but can't find any for the interior, if not then I will just follow the instructions. |

There is a few good articles and pictures on the evo 6 wrc in the June 2000 issue of "SCALE AUTO MODELLER" They are of the 1999 Marlboro Mitsubishi Ralliart Team.
Will see if i can scan these photos if you can't find this magazine.

Body sprayed
I sprayed the body today, using TS-49 (bright Red). I must say, although Tamiya's sprays cost twice the money Duplicolor sprays do and hold half as less, they really are the best sprays on the market. You can get a mirror like gloss from them straight from the can. I just wish they came in more colors...

Nice.
What are the plans for the bonnet? Does it come with a red decal across the top?

p-man - the hood will be painted Pure White and a red decal will go across the top. The rear bumper is also painted pure white, as well as some parts of the wing, the wheels, the underchassis, and various parts of the suspension. Iam going to use Duplicolor Pure White.

wow!
This is one of the...most colorful suspensions I have ever seen... :flash:
![]() I suppose the bright suspension pieces are easier to recognize and differentiate when they're covered by mud and dirt in real life. I also like how the right and left halves are colorcoded by red and blue. Not counting exhaust, engine, skid plates (I haven't put them on yet) or brakes, there are 21 pieces that make up the suspension, 6 in the front, 15 in the rear.. |
