Question on Suspension?

Ok. So heres my situation. I have my 89 Rex and i wanna lower it. I found this dude who would sell me some KYB gas shocks for 20 a piece. they are adjustable but does this mean i can adjust ride height or the smoothness of the ride, like bouncy or stiff. if i buy the shocks does this mean to lower my car, will i still have to get coilovers or what??? im so confused.

Re: Question on Suspension?

yeah the kyb's that your looking at are just ajustible for stiffness. I have a set a 4 way kyb's on my hatch. they've done great for me so far. if the guy is only charging you 20 apiece, that sounds great. just make sure thier not wore out. you will want to go with a good set of lowering springs. I went with Goldline and to tell you the truth im not as happy with them as the sprint springs i had on my 95 civic. with the goldlines a 2.25 in drop turned into a 3 in drop. with the kyb's set to soft its a good easy ride. but with them set all the way stiff, it gets real bumpy. good for cornering though.

Re: Question on Suspension?

shocks should be put on cause you'll wear down the OEM ones fast with a drop like that. Also its good time to put them on if your taking it apart already.

if you buy coilovers please dont buy real cheep ones. my friend bought some inxpensive ones off ebay and they were super bouncy. bad ride and everything. Tien makes a good set for our cars. and they're not too over priced.
