Thumbs down The Difference?

I am curious I know Chevrolet is a good brand but what is the difference of it to the other brand?

If your asking about GMC, it's mostly badging & trim.

Re: The Difference?

Hello phillipshaw,

Great question! GM has four current brands: Chevrolet, GMC, Buick, and Cadillac. Buick and Cadillac are more geared towards the luxury segments, whereas Chevrolet and GMC offer very solid economy vehicles. The Chevrolet brand offers cars (like the Cruze, Sonic, Malibu, and Impala), crossovers and SUVs (Equinox, Traverse, Tahoe), as well as trucks (Avalanche and Silverado) and a passenger van (Express); GMC offers solely crossovers/SUVs (like the Acadia, Terrain, and Yukon), trucks (Sierra and Canyon), and a passenger van option (Savana). I would definitely recommend visiting the brand sites (buick.com; cadillac.com; chevrolet.com; gmc.com) to explore the different vehicles available.

I hope this helps to answer your question! If I can be of further assistance I'm happy to help.
Best,
Sarah

Re: The Difference?

chevy and ford kinda go hand in hand, parts are usually the same internally and operate in the same way, just has differant mounts. escpecially in the older cars and trucks, ive taken a few chevy parts, changed mounting bracket or what have you, and put them on fords. dodge is where you get completly different. also alot of import parts are incorporated into domestic cars, like ford and mazda, dodge and mitsu. not talking about diesel of course. when you pull a part of a domestic and it says denso on it you should know that is not american. had a 91 izuzu rodeo, loved it, just about every part on it said GM. car company's don't like to build new parts, why not just use the same part thats been working. just yesterday i changed the plugs/wires on a 04 explorer, i have a 95 explorer. other then the placement of parts, the upper intake plenum, and the fact that it was a SOHC and mine is an OHV it was the same. take a starter, altenator, fuel pump, power steering pump off of any older chevy and ford lay them side by side they look almost identical, except that ford mounts their ignition coil on the fender well and chevy puts thiers on top the starter. hope that answers your question.
