Shifting into 2nd

Is it just me or is this a common problem to grind a bit when shifting into 2nd? It's probably me but I had the same problem with my 91 si? or maybe some thicker oil in the trans might help.

Sounds to be like your syncromesh is going int he gearbox, a syncromesh basicaly lets you change gear without the gears grinding but when you try to change gear at high revs or quickly and the sycromesh it gone it will grind when u try to put it in gear

Thumbs up

My tranny grinds going into 3rd...even if I double clutch...I hear that "GM Synchromesh" tranny fluid helps a lot..I checked my local GM parts counter and they have it for $9/quart...I just need to go get it and put it in when the weather gets better - I love snow, but I am ready for spring!!

Edit - http://gmpartsdirect.com has it for $5.65/quart...the GM part # is 12345349 .

Deal with it or get a tranny from the junkyard.

Mine does the same thing some times, not all the time though, just when I try to shift really quick, usually its my error, sometimes its not though.
