Vr6 VS Type-S rsx
hmmm
I realy cant wait to know who can burn the other. but from my experiences, I think a Vr6 can burn the rsx......since I got my Vr6 I had a couple of races with honda. and non of them can get me. but I never got a race with the rsx ...yet. I would like it if anybody can tell me about his race with an rsx. |

Yup, even though I have the vr6 w/only 174 hp, I demolish cars like the rsx, celica, and various other japenese cars that have to be thrashed to accelerate. I'm not dissing japenese cars, but sometimes reaching your peak torque at like 5,000,000 rpms isn't helpful while drag racing. I even killed an s2000 a couple of months ago (wing and some graphics, but the guys were cool about it). Actually, the car was tastfully done, but because its torque is reached at high rpms it couldn't keep up with my gti from light to light. Ovbiously, if we could have raced longer he would have won, but don't burst my bubble!

even I've got to admit that Hondas are hard to get off the line unless you got some major mods done, but once they are up to speed keeping up with anyone isn't hard at all. between 30 and 80mph I own most other cars... is crazy being able to do almost 70mph in second gear at 7,500rpm.
But even I am getting tired of having to revv the hell out of my engine all the damned time, and am planning on getting a VR6 this fall.

imma burst ur bubble
j/k. atleast u admit he should beat u in the long run. u guys are correct tho, our motors take forever to make any type of power, but after u get outta 1st gear, then the lack of lowend really doesn't matter. git1689, u should try gsr's for a lil longer then just 1st gear, cuz it'd be a VERY close race.j/w, are u swapped Killa_CRX, cuz non-vtec motors don't exactly "kill" ppl between 30-80mph w/ out some FI or something of the sort. not dissing u at all, jus wondering how u pull that off.

and a non vtec motor is generally tuned for more lowend, b/c they don't rev as high... when you rev as high as vtec motors tend to, you lose some lowend for the higher rpm power... |

the guy says he's rev'n to 7400 rpm, so its not like he's staying very low either. an the SOHC motors (im still assuming no swap) aren't really known for their get-up at any rpm range (w/ out heavy mod's) so that was my whole question. im not saying that its impossible, an not doggin his car at all, jus was asking how he did it short of a swap or FI. so once again...im not saying that a honda isn't going to have a stronger lowend the top...jus am asking THIS guy, NOT U, how HE did it.

Yeah, after first gear most rsx's or integra's start to get into their comfort zone w/ the vtec and the higher rev limit. Usually, a longer race is very close (sometimes i win sometimes he wins, matters on the mods and the driver/conditions). I have been beaten by an integra once or twice and i'm not sure if it was stock or modified, but the race was very close (he beat me by about half a body length). Then again, I don't get the chance to race integra's or rsx's that much because i just don't see many around that wanna race. One time, I was racing this blue civic si with a turbo kit (saw the guage pod on the driver-side a piller) and I killed him off of the line and all the way into second, but then his turbo spooled up and he made up ground really quickly. He eneded up beating me at around 80 some miles per hour and thus I will never underestimate a turbo'd civic again.

vw's are mostly all lowend when it comes to power. theres just gobs of power and torque down low. my 1.8t has tons of that starting from about 2200 rpms on up. after that, the the power and torque curves are pretty flat all the way to redline. so... with our motors, even the VR6... theres no need to rev the heck outta them! But then again... with all that power down low, traction can be a big problem.

We talking stock here?
Doesn't the RSX(while 200hp at the crank) only lay 148hp on the pavement? If this is the case, VR6 will roast the RSX... Modified, well, we'd obviously need more information. |

from a stop, the vr6 will stomp it through 1st, an half of 2nd, then end of 2nd, an all of 3rd, the type s will pull. from a 40mph roll...not even close, the type s will smoke it.

My current Civic has a D16Y8... pulls quite nicely between 5k and 7.5k rpm. Sorry it took so long for me to answer, but I haven't been checking the board lately

yes, from a stop, the rsx-s isn't that impressive. but its' mid range PULLS. its got a great gearing set-up for races from a 40mph roll. its like i said before...from a stop, the dub will prolly win (in a full 1/4, but the type s will be pulling at the end), but from a roll...the type s will pull past the gti.
