Removing A/C belt

I want to remove the A/C belt to get back a lil hp, but not the whole thing because in the event that I want to sell this car, i can just put on a new belt. So would there be any problems if i just cut the belt off?

How much HP does an AC system take away? Does it suck power even when AC isn't running? I just bought an AC kit for my car and I'm gonna install it real soon.

hondas need an AC!!

hondas/acuras fog up really bad in poor weather and you need
the ac to stop that from happening.

Okay, so I installed the AC kit, and my question is answered.

First, I should mention that I'm not much of a racer. I put a cold air intake and a header on my car, but that was mainly for fun. It was fun to see the little 91 cubic inch SOHC spin up to redline so quickly...It was fun to hear the intake growl up to 4000, and scream after that...It was fun to chirp the tires in 2nd and in 3rd and send the car a-bouncing down the road. Sure, I can't honestly hope to beat any of ya'll with just an intake and a header, and I don't pretend I can, but it was fun to drive a car that zips along faster than a stock car would have...

Then I installed the AC kit, and it was like, Dear God, where did all the power go? Add about 60 pounds to the engine compartment and another belt to the engine, and now the car handles exactly like before I tossed on the intake and the header. Yep, it drives exactly like stock.

Oh, I'll probably appreciate AC a lot more when I go back to school in the fall, in Tennessee. I drove out there last summer with no AC, and suffered when the temp hit 95 and the humidity hit 95%. But until then...well, I guess it's time to put on a cat-back

--------------------

AEM Cold Air Intake + DC Sports 4-2-1 Ceramic Header + Arizona Mobile Air AC kit = 0. Zero, zilch, nothing. *sigh*

AC doesn't hurt hp when it's off. Unless you run it all the time while driving

Theoretically, yeah. But I think the extra weight of the system and the friction caused by running another belt does suck some power, even with AC off. My engine doesn't spin up as fast now...it's a noticable difference. Also, where I could once cruise up hills say in 4th or 3rd, I now have to downshift to make it up...this all happens with the AC off. I'm gonna check my install to make sure I wired and installed everything correctly.

seriously.. your car had no balls to begin with and you just addimited it to us. so remember this summer when you see a car just like yours and the driver sweeting his balls off that used to be you.. i would enjoy the cool ac and if you were really concerned about hp to begin with that ac would have never made it on your ride
