Engine Squeal

My engine is making a belt squealing noise only when I barely press on the gas pedal. If I press it more than half way, it stops. It only used to make this sound when it was wet. Yesterday morning I had to park by the sprinkler that soaks the cars cause the parking lot was full and I figured it was from that, but yesterday was a nice warm day and I drove it around, and it never stopped. This morning, it's still doing it. It also does it when I turn the car off. Whats wrong? Please help...

Thanks!

Sounds like an alternater belt squealing, next tiime it starts squealing like that, spray a little bit of wd-40 on the belt. If it stops for a bit then the belt is either to tight or needs replaced....

DO NOT SPRAY WD 40 ON THE BELT!!!!!!

It sounds like your belt however. It either needs tightening or replacing. If it's been in there a while you'd might as well replace it since you'll have it loose.

It happened to me to, I even replaced the belt too but it didnt go away. I then found out that the bolt that holds the alternator fell off. Which made the alternator move at an angle rubbing on the belt. So check the bolt that holds it not the one you adjust. You can only see it by looking under the car, its about four inches long you cant miss it. Ohh yeah dont put WD 40 on it, it just makes it worse. hope this helps

spraying a little bit of wd 40 on a belt isnt going to hurt it, but it will tell you if its the belt thats squeaking...

Fixed!

Hey, thanks you guys for all your help...but my dad and I went out there just now and it was a vacuum leak off the manifold. I guess one to the nubby plastic things came off, and we put it back...now all fixed!!! Weird noise for a vaccuum leak... oh well...

Thanks again! I appreciate it.

My car has been doing the same thing. From like 800-2500 rpms it makes that annoying sound, not all the time but a lot. You got pictures of what you did to fix it since I don't know much about vacuum.
