if you want it cheap you aint gunna get what you would if you paid the right amount. and if you want a professional window tinter to do it i dont think he would take less then what he kows hes worth.

remember you get what you pay for...

Doing it yourself isnt that bad. You could do it in a weekend. I did mine, got a little tricky on the back window because of the curve and size, but I cut the seam along one of the defroster lines so you cant really tell.

I would suggest that if you do it yourself, get the good stuff (not the autozone or pepboys stuff) the good stuff that reacts well to a heat gun, is shrinkable, and all that - the stuff the pro's use. And get yourself a heat gun for those really stubborn wrinkles, bubbles, and curves.

Take your time, you will need to meditate before doing this, and go to it. Be patient and careful, and you could do it yourself and it'll look fine.

ps: its much easier to take off all the windows you can from the car and do them on a workbench or something. I even took the rear window off my hatch when I did it.

ask people in your area who've had their windows tinted. they can recommend a good local shop. or just call around. ask about warantees and guarnatees and those other "tees". Don't do it yourself. It will turn purple and probably bubble up.

acually film does it naturally and it only happens when you buy crappy tint. my dad tints windows for a living. he uses sunguard(the best). the crapy films are like lumar and others. it only bubbles becuase its the glue the company uses, if it turns purple it has nothing to do with who did it, its simply the film they used. but i would still not recommend doing that your self, you could damage you window and also ruin your rear defroster.

by the way...where are you? I live in LA and there's a place in the valley that's really cheap and does all the dealerships in the area. I forget the name but if anyone wants it just leave a reply.

if you're going all around without the windshield it SHOULD run around 200-280 for a really good job, or at least that's what the prices are up here.

$200 tynebeach?!? I got mine done from the Honda dealership's tinter of choice and it cost $140. Maybe it's just location but that seems pretty high.

Doesn't seem too bad to me. Mine was $240 for the Ultimate Tint(metal fiber film or whatever, lifetime warranty, little reflection) on my two-door.

Well whatever it is, they said it won't bubble or turn purple and I have a lifetime gaurantee so it's fine. Hasn't bubbled or turned purpe yet, don't think it will. So my point was just get a tint that's decent quality and gauranteed.

Now Now, hondacivic4drlx and Self, no one really lied. If you get the good stuff and professionally done, you get the metal fiber stuff. If you buy a roll from your local autoshop, you get the poopy plastic stuff, not metal, and it turns purple. But yeah, if the professional guy charged you extra for the "special metal fiber" he was either one, a geek, or two, f*ckin with you.

and yeah $200-$280 sounds about right to me, that's the going rate here in Ohio.
