car is getting hot fast

hello I am new here but I had a question i have a 89 accord lx and it is getting hot at ecery stop light or stop in town i think it must be the thermostat but i am not sure where it is located or how to change any help would be great. when i say that it is getting hot it is all the way in the red and I am not sure what kind of damage this will do to my car if i don't change

drain the coolant, follow the lower radiator hose to the engine. thats were the thermostat is. make sure to replace the rubber gasket and install it properly.

lorunner is right on there. As for the damage, hondas have aluminum blocks so if you continue to let your car overheat like that, you are going to have some serious problems. Also check that your radiator fan is switching on, thats also a common problem.

when u flush ur fluids in ur radiator make sure there is no air by opening the air bleeder valve located near where the thermostat was.
