05 Rio timing belt

After reading the threads all over the net it seems my problem is not new. Have a 05 Rio that broke the timing belt at 48,000 and shelled the motor. Had to fight kia to fix it. They put a new top end in it. Now at 95,000 it shelled out again, the timing belt. Kia says not under warranty because they didn't replace the timing belt the first time so it's over it's 60,000 maint. The dealership says the paper works states the valves dropped and caused the damage and the timing belt was not replaced. Can anyone tell me what besides the timing belt breaking would cause the valves to drop. Thank you
