Fellow builders, I present to you..the Dohc Duece

hey guys, been a while since i've been posting anything, I moved, started a new job and am still getting settled with the new baby. Anyway with this year being the 75th Anniversary of the Duece i'm going to try and get this done. I've been building on this since about 97 or so and just couldn't decide on a direction to go with it. Well i'm trying out a pro touring meets some old school build styles, with some vintage flair thrown in.
its the body is heavily channeled, sitting on an amt phantom vickie frame with the 4.6 motor modded to look a little old(flathead heads modded to fit the valve covers and my own version of a hilborn efi system). Front suspension will be phantom vickie, rear suspension will hopefully be a '99 mustang cobra irs. Color will be tamiya dark blue metallic, wheels are modded revell salt flat specials in wide and wider with some MPC Motorsports tires. It will get a horizontal bar grill and the lower pan will be molded in to cover the suspension mounts, and to tie in the quad projector headlights. Hope you guys like it, as always comments and critisms are welcome, also hope you don't mind the pic quality, its my dads camera and while it does have macro..the lights in his place aren't the best for taking good pics

Thanks guys

Gray

This is going to be cool. I love the old school hot rods. That's where it all started. Sounds like you have a great plan to follow. When I think of these old school rods a primer black body always comes to mind. I like the low stance and the exposed frame rails. The trumpets and short headers look perfect with the flathead. I'll be watching your progress on this one.

Re: Fellow builders, I present to you..the Dohc Duece

great idea, but putting flat head heads on top of a DOHC 4.6 mod motor is a bit strange. I would have to say the stock dohc valve covers are quite unsightly, but I would have made some covers or something that were alittle less out of place.

but it is indeed a good start otherwise.

yeah they do look odd, i still have work to do to them, but I may do something else, I just really didn't like the stock mod motor valve covers....i'll see what I can come up with..

Re: Fellow builders, I present to you..the Dohc Duece

those wheels came in a quickbuilder 57 chevy kit from revell, black box, red car, these come with really skinny tires, i've modded them a bit by chucking them in the dremel and turning the mounting lip(uses a lip mount inside the tire lke some diecasts) down to fit normal tires, i'm gonna make some copies of em as soon as I get more rtv, i'll use em on a few cars.

I love this, its a little crazy. But, I think the grill needs a chop to match the lovely low body, its a little tall at the moment.

Awesome idea... And those wheels were awesome on a Camaro I saw in HOT ROD, and was wondering if they were in any scale kit... I may have to order one of those.
