Talking

Well I've had my Trxus 31x10.5x15's for a couple of weeks now. I was going to wait a little longer before I posted anything about them because I still have an issue with one of my tires... I don't know if I have just a flat spot or the tread is running untrue. I know that I vibrate pretty bad at times. After a lot of trial and error mounting and balancing, my friend at the tire shop and I determined that it was the tire and he has ordered a replacement. The tire in question has a different sound than the others. We tried re-mounting and balancing, moving the wheel etc.
I don't want to sound like I'm flaming Interco at all, I think I just happened to get a tire that the tread doesn't run true to the center of the tire. You can visually see it as it's being balanced. The rest of the tires sounded good and kept their balance well. (we checked that too). I feel this is a minor problem and as long as I can get the tire replaced, I'll be happy with my purchase.

I've been out in the mud three times since I got them, I think they kick ass in the soup. I went to the proving grounds because I knew I could go to the muck pit and it would still be pretty wet. We haven't had too much rain here. Anyway, I had a blast in the muck pit! I think I can say that the Trxus will be a great tire for the money with good properties for both on and off-road.

As far as noise, well it is a MT. My neighbor has 33" BFG/MT's. In his opinion, he says they are a lot quieter than his tires. He also says that it will be interesting to see how they sound as they start to wear. he love the tread pattern, especially the siping and the center groove in the tread. he says that will make it where I will be able to spin the mud away. I trust his opinion totally, He has never owned another vehicle other than a 4WD besides his motorcycles. He tried to sway me to buy the BFG's but I couldn't find them any cheaper than about $625.00. I ended up paying around $500.00 for the Trxus after all was said and done.

I wish I had some better photo's of our romp in the muck, my photographer wasted all the pic's we had left in about the first twenty minutes. I'm going to buy a digital camera soon and that should fix that.

Talking Exit the mucky stuff

The proving grounds were bone dry, I found the only muck holes and tried to make the best of them!

After I was finished going through the muckpit, notice how the tread seems to be clear of most of the mud.

Thanks for the post. If you don't mind I would like to add it to the xterra4x4.com mods list. I'll do all the formatting etc.

4-wheel parts did a terrible balance job on my SSR's. After getting nowhere with that shop I took my tires to Les Shuab and they were able to get them all balanced to "reasonable" for a MT.

From talking with the guys they mentioned being able to do a patch balance where they balance the tire before mounting it using some sort of material on the inside of the tire. After that they use normal weights to take care of any remaining inbalance.

I'm curious to hear what Interco does with your tire. One of the local 4-wheeling mail lists was having difficulty getting Interco to replace a bad tire.

Talking to Anti-

No, that last hole if you notice the mud is the consistancy of peanut butter, there is a pretty steep berm on the other side so I went pretty slow to keep from plowing my frontend into it. The mud you see slinging is me climbing up and out of the hole. the mud is about mid axle deep. It looks like I'm going fast I guess because the mud is so thick and gooey it stands for a few seconds.

Can you also post a picture of the tread pattern? I think I've seen it before but don't have the link.

Talking Thanks!

yeah, I think that my friend who owns the tire place, has exausted all his resources in trying to get this one tire inparticular right. I don't know how but he said I should have the new one by Monday. Thanks for forwarding my post to the 4x4.com_mods list. I'm buying a new digital camera real soon, for the purpose of getting the coolest off-roading pics I can!

Sure Schlud, I'll look around and see if I can find a good one if not, give me a couple of days and i will get one.

P.S. who can host my pics now that photopoint has become greedy?

Yucky Stuff!

Kinda, I think my goo was just a little more wet, not to mention that I ran through it many times in an attempt to get it stuck. No luck. that last picture was the only time I had to get into 4WD to get over the berm

GOOD GOD YOU GUYS!! It's Les Schwab!! Not shoo-ab

If you have an Americas Tire/Discount store ( www.tires.com ) in your area, I would go to them before Schwab... better prices and the service is the same if not better.
