33" Trxus Interco tires for sale...

All tires measure +/- 14/32" with no uneven wear or chop. These are Interco (Super Swamper) TRXUS M/T 285/75R16 (comp. to 33x12.50). These retail new for $130 + shipping in the magazines and about $165 at a tire store. I am looking to get at least $80 per tire and I can mount and balance for someone at no charge. Shipping might be a little on the expensive side because these are 10 ply tires and weigh a good bit per tire. To the best of my knowledge, these tires only have between 2,500 to 4,000 miles and the reason I got them is because the guys wife didn't want a lifted truck so I took off the lift and tires and put his truck back to stock. I wish Interco would make those in a 32x11.5. Most of our trucks can't handle the 33 because of the width, needing a BL and SL to run them.

Perhaps you can tell me though, did the guy that had them on his truck like them or not.
Like I said I live in northern Harford County, and they are calling for as much snow this year as last. I run 285/75R16 BFG AT's and wasn't that impressed with my ability to get through the deep stuff. This year I want to add a plow to do our driveway (borrowed a snow blower last year) but want more traction. I was considering running the BFG MT's but they don't have any sipes. They would probably be great in soft mud but not so good in snow or icy roadways. I only run the truck to Baltimore (where we work) during inclement weather in the winter and the occasional dump run, home depot, etc. So, on average, about 7500 miles a year max. Noise isn't a concern either, the volume knob on the radio works fine. I really need traction for icy/snowy pavement (our driveway is really steep). I've never had the truck in the woods or on trails and don't intend to start (no time) so..................

Anyway, perhaps you or someone you know can help me out with this dilemma.

I'm down in Howard county, and my BFG ATs had me getting around in the worst of it last winter quite well. I was chugging through 15+ inches of virgin snow in an unlifted Xterra with the 32-inchers and they were better than half-worn at that point. I hope we get hammered again this year, I just put on a brand new set. They haven't let me down in any winter condition yet.
The TrXus ought to do pretty damn well in the winter as well, including the sketchy stuff.

I'm just picky as all get out and might be too demanding. My stock Ram with the 5.9 is capable and willing but the tires were about half gone. The snow was about 24 inches deep and a firm two days old. As soon as I started in she rode up a bit but then dug in. I had her hoppin' till I thought something was gonna break so I let off. Maybe I should've stayed on it but we'll never know now. In another instance, with only two inches of snow on a paved road the traction was so bad I almost lost control!? My funny little honey didn't appreciate it so I got back to just driving to work.

It seams these types of discussions will go on for as long as they keep making new types of tires but there should be some authority that can just say, "Hey, we tested this, this and this on that, that and that and here's what we found".

So that's why I have joined yet another forum. If you want to know what the average Joe thinks, you just ask.

At the Merchant's Tire Center in Bel Air the guy said, "Oh, I would strongly recommend not using the BFG MT's, because they are like boots with no treads"???????????????!

He said stick with the AT's, because of the sipes. Seemed to make sense till I was at the car wash this past Sunday and saw a rig with the Trxus on it! They have it all! Deep, wide spaced lugs, and with sipes everywhere! And the price isn't as bad as I thought they would be. I can get 4 BFG AT's for @ $650 o.t.r.a.o.t.d. at Merchants. And the guy at the car wash got his Trxus (4 of em) for around $800. in Hickory near where I live.

So, the quest begins, find the best tire for my situation for the best price I can, and perhaps make some friends along the way.
