Is the rosso 512tr rare?

Got the rosso ferrari 512 testarossa today. Seems to be a great kit, though it is a shame it has no engine- brake discs and wheels are amazing. Is it a rare kit? and if so is anyone interested as I don't want to destroy a rare kit with my heavy hands

No, they are on eBay semi regularly and don't sell for much. They may become rare, who knows.

It's long oop, so could be considered rare (that's why I got two when I had a chance).

I have built two and still have a third in the closet.
Some of the nicest wheels around for the 512. Actually I found it to be a really accurate kit.

As far as rarity, I am not sure. I got all three for about 40 bucks with shipping. So I don't imagine they can be all that rare.

Re: Is the rosso 512tr rare?

Cool, thanks for clearing that up. I'm building it then, any suggestions for an engine? Does anyone have any good reference pics or progress threads?

For pictures, I would actually try Ebay. I did a quick look, and somebody has a 512tr for sale. Some pretty good pics, and one nice one of the engine.

Other than that, I have a book on the 512 at home that I used, I could scan some of the pics for you, but not until tonight, or maybe tommorow night.

You can PM me with your email, if you need more pics from the book.

Good luck, and post up some pics. I might add some of the black one I did when I get home tonight.

As sjelic just posted in here http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=419891

Check out the Sotheby's Ferrari auction catalog P.118, there is a 1995 F512M up for auction and have some good ref. pics for your TR.

It's a nice kit, wheels are great. Not terrifically rare, they show up from time to time. I got mine a couple years ago for $14.00.

But while it looks as precise as a Tamiya kit, the chassis/suspension is an absolute nightmare to assemble. It looked like it was going to be a breeze to do the final assembly. Boy, was I ever wrong!

I have a Monogram version to build, I'm going to use a set of Rosso rims on it, and have a very decent full-detail 512 TR. The only thing about the Monogram kit (other than weak wheels/tires) is the foglamp detail is flat under the lense. They did a better job w/the side slats...not as prototypical (slats are solid, not open), but the panels/slats look better assembled.

Here's my Rosso 512TR:

That looks really nice, the wheels are indeed very nice, just the right proportion. I had no idea it built into such a nice looking model.

Really does look like a nice model. Looking forward to building it now, the 512tr on ebay does have some great pics thanks for pointing that out cos I never would have thought of looking there.
