99 intrigue codes

I posted awhile back concerning my 3.8 not starting or shutting off while driving. Ive had mass air flow and fuel sensors reeplaced.

diagnostic codes I am getting now are B0608, B2958, B2960, and U1016. It still loses power while driving. I also have to turn the key several times to get it to start. When I turn the key it does nothing. No attempt to start or anything. Sometimes I have to turn it 10 to 15 times, sometimes only 1 or 2 times. I have also had the ignition replaced and a new key programmed.

Its kind of scary going down the road at 60 mph and not realizing that your car has lost power when you go to push the gas.

Re: 99 intrigue codes

Based on the body control DTCs you are getting it sounds like a Passlock VATs problem. When those DTCs set the fuel injection pulse width enable will be inhibited from the BCM module to the PCM module and the starter will be disabled.

B0608 - Power Pooling/Initialization Error
B2958 - Security System Sensor Data Circuit High
B2960 - Security System Sensor Data Incorrect but valid
U1016 - Loss of Communications with PCM

Typically an ignition switch resolves the issue but you may have internal problems with either the BCM or PCM modules, possibly BCM or related wiring. BTW - A BCM module can only be properly programmed by a GM dealer because a Tech II is required.

Re: 99 intrigue codes

Thanks. The shop I took it to sent it to a GM dealer to program.
Is there any way to bypass this. I have heard it could be the passlock both here and at shops.
I don't want to keep spending $$ on new parts that may not be faulty.
The wiring is the next thing we are going to look at.
