Finished: Impreza Corsica 2001
Hey everyone, I've been on the board for awhile now, but finally got around to creating my first progress thread. Maybe this will keep me motivated enough to finish the project. The subject is the Infineon/Power Horse Impreza driven by Achim Moertl in the 2001 Tour de Corse.
![]() Kit is mostly OOB with the exception of Studio27 decals and aftermarket harness. Body still needs another coat of white, and interior is currently only test fitted. I know the wheels are incorrect. I'm still trying to hunt down a proper set, although I think I prefer the box stock wheels over the proper 5 spokes. I apologize for the dark pics. Comments and suggestions welcome. Last edited by alakai; 04-04-2005 at 05:12 PM. |

Your wheels are not nessecairily incorrect. Rally cars use lots of wheel sets and they are very rarely all the same, especially with privateer teams. So don't worry : they might even be correct at some stages and even if they aren't : nobody can prove you wrong

I have a Hasegawa Corolla WRC kit with 6 spoke wheels like that that I've been meaning to copy (Want to copy all the different wheels I have, and I need a 5th for a spare anyway). Contact me OTB.

The Subaru Allstar team used Speedline wheels for the entire 2001 season, so using the Oz wheels would be somewhat incorrect.

After a little searching, I discovered Reji bundles their Infineon/Powerhorse decals with resin copies of the correct wheels.
http://www.mediamixhobby.com.sg/cata...007bb6060701a2 Sure wish I noticed that before getting the Studio27 version. |

freakray-
I see. So now I have to buy ANOTHER kit in order to have one of every type of wheel on hand? Oh well..... alakai- Thanks for that link, I'd forgotton about Media Mix. I just found that there are aftermarket decal sets for several of the Heller/Airfix 1/43rd scale kits: Cool! |

I also have the 1/24 decals and wheels from Reji to do this car, I am looking forward to it. Yours looks great so far, I will be watching with interest.

Update so far- final coat of white on the body, and starting trim tonight. Added seat belt harnesses.....badly I might say
I don't think the lengths are correct to scale. Anyway, I'll post a few more pics once I secure the roll cage and tie in the harnesses. As for wheels, I found an Arai version with the correct rims so they will be changed out once the kit comes in. ![]() Thanks for looking! Last edited by alakai; 03-25-2005 at 07:55 AM. |

Latest progress - most of trim complete, but turned out a little jaggy so I'll need to touch up a few places. Headlight and taillight lenses installed.
Now on to the decals! ![]() ![]() 2 interior shots with seat belts added. Sadly the macro function on my camera and my harness building talent isn't quite up to par. ![]() ![]() Speedlines on their way! comments welcome! |

Re: Progress Thread: Impreza Corsica 2001
Those harnesses look fine to me; more than I can do atm. I can't wait to see the decals on the body, it should look amazing.

Argh! These decals are a pain in the arse!
The main red/silver decal work is mostly done, I'll just have to go over the whole thing with Microsol to get everything to lay flat. You never really notice all the compound curves on this car until you have to lay decals over them! ![]() ![]() The Arai kit came in today and wheels are primed and ready for paint. Thanks for looking. |
