Headers and Camshafts

just wondering if there's any differences between a 99 and 2000+ headers? jason, what brand did you purchase again? i tried searching for it in the forum but couldnt find that post...

also.. do or dont they have cams for a 2000 g20 yet?? i thought i heard that you couldnt use 99 camshafts on a 2000+ cause in 2000 the G20's started coming with roller rockers... but the stillen site says there cams fit 99-00.

i dont think i'll get the stillen ones.. most likely jwt, but is there a difference between the 99 and 2000 or not??

I got the hotshot headers. I don't think JWT has the roller rocker cams ready yet but ti wouldn't hurt to call.

I'd trust the stillen site about as far as I could throw it. I've caught tonnes of mistakes on that site.

ok.. thats what i thought.

and i agree the only thing Stillen is consistant for is having inconsistancies between their website, catalog and sales people!! lol

about the header... any install problems, tips, issues you'd like to share? install straight forward?

Correct me if I'm wrong but the 1999 and the 2000-2002 g20's have different motors, so the cams are not swap-able, you have to wait until JWT puts the new ones made for the 2000-2002 G20's out for sell...

As for the headers, Hotshot and (I believe) Stillen has some headers for 2000-2002 motors. I've read some of the post on the www.b15sentra.net forums that the aftermarket header's will get rid of the cat thats on your exhaust manifold. Also, the secondary o2 sensor has to be extended and placed after the cat thats on the midpipe, in order to get rid of a check-engine light.

For reference, the 2000-2002 G20's have 2 cats, one on the exhaust manifold and another on the midpipe. Whys that? I do not know...

The reason for our motors having 2 o2 sensor's is that the second o2 has to read cleaner than the first one. Basically, to let the ECU know that the cat is doing what it should be doing...burning the excess fuel, cleaning the exhaust fumes, saving the ozone, etc.

WARNING: No one has confirmed if Hotshot has a hole already there to place the o2 after the cat or if you have to get one welded on at a shop. But hotshot claims they'll provide the "bung" for it, what ever that is ?!?!

that doesnt mean its a different motor.. hell they're all sr20de's, just been improved upon.

as for power gains... they should be 1hp more than the 99 models' cams according to Ben
