'69 Monte Carlo R8 GORDINI progress

This is a resurected progress, i finally stripped the messed paint job and reprimed it. It'll be build box stock except ignition wires and new roll-cage to replace the vinyl (!) one. I also changed the wheels for minilite ones.

I think it's the first one here.

Waoh! I love that car!
is it the heller kit / reboxed as wave kit?

I d like to see how the other pieces in that kit are, before I smack down some hard euros on trying to buy one... could you tell me about the quality of it? Well, knowing it has got a vynil rollcage and sucky wheels... wont be that good tho??? or am I wrong?

Re: '69 Monte Carlo R8 GORDINI progress

It's the wave kit with cartograph decal (original ones are wellowed !) so i must build the no 89 car, or a street version as i changed the wheels. Seats and roll cage are vinyl, and all the chrome tree need a lot of work and alclad. Engine is basic but there. And it's the only kit of that car i've seen.
The most funny is that the box says "maquette plastique très détaillée" !

If you find it give it a try, it's rare. Even in real i've seen only one in several years.

Interesting project! I've been wondering if you'll make a progress thread ever since I saw the Gordini in your project list.

Re: '69 Monte Carlo R8 GORDINI progress

I applied final coat of testors french blue (still wet here). I personnaly find it too dark but i've seen different shade of blue on gordini's, and maybe with the white stripes and chrome parts it'll look lighter. What do you think ?

Re: '69 Monte Carlo R8 GORDINI progress

Oh my Gord'!!!!!!!!* I never thought I could see one here!

The paint looks good to my eyes, but I wish there would be more of these kits on the market just to see (or better: make!) one painted like it can be seen on some old pics: very faded blue...

I'd really like to know what Datsun 510 lovers think about this other legendary "shoe's box"...

(*Gordini)

Well, little update, the stripes are on now. I had to airbrush them because the decals wre not long enough. Hopefully i was able to make a clean job spraying white over blue. Just need to clearcoat it.

Now it starts looking like a real gord'

I've never seen this car before but it looks tight. Reminds me of a Cortina or Herald up front. Nice paint choice and the stripes look good from here.
Where did you score those Minilites, I want some!
What kind of engine does it have? Suspension? Any pics?
I like it!
