Another diversion....this time anime

Well, you see, i've never tried drawing people because i was convinced i would be crap. But lately iv been wanting to have people standing next to my car designs and anime seemed like the perfect style. So this is my first attempt to draw a person. I decided to try and do it as a self portait (although i didnt expect it to be as close as it was). I did the 'flesh form' first (as per a tutorial i found) and then put me in a race suit with boots and helmet (I race a 115cc racing kart). Notice how i have dodged having to do hands . It was coloured using a combination of mask tool and airbrush tool in photshop. The helmet has come out really crap .

anyway, let me know what you think.

Re: Another diversion....this time anime

The drawing is pretty nice the hair is throwing me off. Drawing people IMO is much easier than cars, the faces are what will give you the problems. Some simple proportions that will help draw faces are roughly: a) top of the ears line up with eyebrows b) bottom of ear line up with nose

If you want to have people next to your car designs you can trace them in or make them very simple as not to take away from the car.

in what way? my hair is actually bleached on the top but not on the sides. i think its fairly accurate (if exagerated) approximation of my real hair
