Can a 88' T-Top lx safely do 12's w/o cage?

Friend of mine has a t-top lx that he's selling cheap. Cheap enough that I would want to put 5 grand into. Im just not sure how much flex the t-top will give without a cage, I still want it to look like a good steet car.

Sub-frame connectors will take car of a lot of the unibody flex. Most tracks will make you have a cage at those times especially if there in the mid 12's.

Well besides at the track, I was hoping it can do 12's with all the regular bracing up w/o cage and still have healthy alliment.

Personally, I would not go that fast without a weld in 6-point bar. You can get swing out door bars, so getting in and out isn't an issue, still plenty streetable and easy to get in and out of. Don't lose the ability to use T-tops or back seat either.

I would love to have a cage in my t-top more so since Im going that fast. What I was looking at is what is the sence of having a t-top if the space above my head isn't open? Isn't there a bar that runs towards the windsheild?
When I sayed I still want it to look like a street car I mean with windows down and top off you shouldn't see the cage anywhere in that opening.

I wasn't talking about a cage, I was talking about a 6-point bar. There is a halo that goes up and follows the roof line, but it is behind the drivers head and shouldn't interfere with your T-tops. Yes, you are going to see the bar with the windows down and the tops out, but what does that matter?

Theres a 6-point bar. The bars that run long the door are held in by a pin so you swing em out to get in and out of the car, and the halo bar isn't that bad for how much stability you get out of it.

Yes I like the 6-point bar, I always thought that 2 bars ran along the upper door and towards the wingsheild.

My only concern now is how much heavier is a lx t-top to a regular lx. Any ideas?
