Good RWD Cars...

I live in Minnesota and I have a honda civic. The snow is awsome, but the e-brake is getting boring. I want something that will drift corners and do 360's with the gas pedal.

This summer I am buying a new car, and I want a RWD car. I don't really want a domestic(Nothing agains stangs and camaros, but I like imports).

Now my question is, what is the best, and I want to turbo it. So I need RWD with a some what strong engine. I want to pull 6 or less seconds 0-60 and under 14's in the 1/4. but I don't have rich parents so I am on a $10,000 budget for the car. Are these numbers possible with only a turbo setup on stock internals on this mistery car that is yet to be determined? My friend mensioned the 240sx, but that is kind of weak, it has a 2.4 liter, so there is room for boost there but its only 155 hp stock. My origional plan was to get an integra, but im considering RWD, thanks for any help I can get.

Re: Good RWD Cars...

How about an MR2? Mid-engined, RWD, you can get a turbo model...

Re: Good RWD Cars...

i would also say go with an mr2. but if you are willing to spend a couple extra thousand, get a nissan 300zx tt. if you find a 300zx n/a for under 10k you might think, okay, i will just put on a turbo. thats not easy, to put a turbo on a n/a 300zx would cost a lot of money and a lot of time, it is just cheaper and easier to buy the turbo model. so go with the mr2 if you want to spend under 10k or go with the 300zx if you are will to spend a few extra thousand.

MR2: Easy to modify, able to handle pretty decent boost with stock internals, RWD and mid-engine layout... it's a winner.

But its a 2 seater, incredibly inconvenient.

3rd gen rx7. mkiv supra.

jump on the 240 bandwagon...

Re: Good RWD Cars...

I found my 93 MR2 Turbo and got it for 4500. With the remaining 5.5 grand you can get a:

1. Greddy Intercooler w/ Spal Fans ~800
2. TKO Exhaust w/ DP ~ 850
3. Whatever Intake ~50
4. Electronic Boost Controller ~400
5. T3/T4 KO Racing Street Brawler Turbo ~2250

and still have a grand to take care of all the scheduled maintenance. Thats assuming you'd do the installs all yourself. That'd have you at or over 300RWHP (depending on how much boost you are running) and in the low 12's high 11's....

Heres some info for ya: 3S-GTE Power Primer

Find a Turbo II RX-7... With the $10,000 you have to spend, you'll easily have an 12 second RELIABLE car. Yes I said reliable.

I found a 92 T Tops MR2 Turbo for 5k. A rare find, but that would have been all my money for a daily driver with about no room at all.

The MR2's your choice for a secondary all-out race car. Dayna's right about the Rx-7 too, but I am a whore for the MR2.

I don't think 10k will buy a Mark 4 Supra or 3rd gen Rx-7. Not any decent one, anyways... And then you'll be spending everything you've got, leaving no room for modifications.
