ITR head or GSR head

I was planning to get either a GSR head or ITR head on my LS engine. Which would be the best choice.

Are you upgrading the bottom end at all?

If you must, I'd go GSR. Its better for the cost if you look around.

Re: ITR head or GSR head

i am going to upgrade my bottom end. Which head would give the highest hp gain and would be more reliable.

I guess the most reliable will be going with a GSR. You can always add ITR cams, dual valvesprings, titanium retainers, race valves and port/polish (overbore). Whatever... later.

The GSR will serve the purpose best if you want the ability to start from scratch and customize your valvetrain.

The ITR head is just a completely sweet set-up if you plan on going the Honda JDM Parts route (ITR or CTR internals).

If you just want the "look" either buy a new valve cover for the GSR or paint it.

N/A vs. Turbo

When I think about someone spending the money to go vtec on a non vtec, I think they want to do some serious N/A work. BUT if you are simply doing it for better flow for a turbo set-up tweak out the head you have on your LS...

Re: ITR head or GSR head

If you are thinking of doing a LS/VTEC setup then stay away from turbo! And if you are wanting N/A then get a B16 head it is cheaper and flows better than the GSR. The B16 head is the base that Honda started with when developing the B18C5 head (type R). If you are wanting to go turbo jus spend the money you would have on a new head and have yours port and polished, and some good turbo cams if the budget will allow it. Upgrade the internals and possibly sleeve it if big boost is you goal and boost away.

What would be wrong with the LS/VTEC turbo'd? Is it mechanical, or financial? Just curious.

Re: ITR head or GSR head

More financial IMO. Think about it like this you will spend money on the VTEC head and then more money on an ecu, wiring, etc. When all you have to do is get the LS head port and polished. Maybe even some turbo cams and you will produce just as much power for less money. That is my feeling towards it anyway.
