95 blazer, OBD-II scantools not reading
This is the #^@#@%@ CPI engine. Nice HP, but that's it.
It is supposed to be OBD-II compliant, but have wasted money on two different scantools (Stinger and a PC-interface), and neither can read codes (stinger can erase codes). GM dealer COULD READ IT, so my onboard interface is working. HINTS? IDEAS? Thanks. Dave.- |

Re: 95 blazer, OBD-II scantools not reading
95 was the "BASTARD" year during the switch to OBD2 diagnostics...Your vehicle is equipped with the 16 pin OBD2 DLC, but the computer and operating system is still OBD1
You can sometimes "trick" the code readers into reading by changing the year to 96...

Yes and no.... Early 95 s10 blazers used ODBI.5, later year 95's used ODBII... The best way to tell is to look at the ECM/PCM. If it's under the hood, it's ODBII, if it's under the dash it's ODBI.5. Also ODBI.5 use a top post mounted distributor system, while ODBII uses the side post mounted distributor. The ODBI.5 uses the ODBII connector unfortunatly, so what you need is the adapter that allows a ODBI scanner to be used with an ODBII plug...
