New at the mod game ... need help

I have a 92 Civic 4dr LX. Bought it used. The motor has been replaced, but i dont know what it was replaced with. it still uses stock parts. i am going to replace the exuast. it was suggested to go with at least 2 inch from the factory header back. i am using 1 turbo flow muffler (2 1/4 inch) on each side and a 4 inch twin tip on each side. a local shop in louisville,ky suggested 2.5 inch. is that to big for stock spec motor?

You are aware that Civics don't have dual exhaust, right? From what you wrote, it sounded like you are trying to do a dual setup. Don't do this. Anyway, you can go with 2 1/4" all the way back and will be fine. Welcome to AF and hae fun with your Civic. Show us a pic of your engine and we'll tell you what it is.

you mean split the tips? or split it so it goes through two mufflers. If you want it to go through two mufflers, it won't be a good idea. you'll lose so much torque if you do it.

OK, first off, this will not benefit your car in any way shape or form. Second off, it looks stupid. Dual exhaust is for V shaped engines, 2 headers, therefore 2 exhausts. Your Civic has one exhaust manifold and therefore should only have one exhaust. Dual exhaust on a Civic is commonly referred to what is known as RICE. It makes us look bad, like we're tryin to be like the V8 guys and there Crustangs. Just stick with the single exhaust setup ad you'll be ok, I promise.

2 1/4 would be a good size but 2 1/2 would be pushing it...

as for the dual exhaust you definitly should just stick w/ a single exhaust. as prev mentioned you would also loose torque w/ that type of setup...

Hope this might help a little more...:frog:

DAMN IT! What I am really curious about is what engine you freaking have! Look on the left side of the header and there should be the engine code there.
