I have an '04 with a 115v outlet by the tailgate that looks like a cigarette lighter socket. My question - do I buy something to plug in that allows me to use it for all appliances or am I limited to appliances with a socket plug?

Im assuming that you would have to buy a plug that would fit into the one you have that would allow you to plug in any appliance. I have a 110v power inverter that plugs into the "cigarette" lighter and then will allow me to plug up to 2 110v items into it.

Power UP!
All you need is a power inverter, then you can operate anything with a power cord.
Here's an example of one: http://www.atbatt.com/getItem.cfm?ItemID=3346 These are perfect for running a blender while tailgating! |

That outlet in the back is 12 VOLTS! The 115 Volt outlet is inside the console compartment between the front seats. It's a little inconvenient, and only has two prongs (no ground).
