Delayed starting on 99
I have a 99 Ranger 4.0L that has to be cranked over quite a bit before it finally starts. The temperature has dropped a little, which could be part of it, but it seems that it still should not take as long as it does, to start. The fuel filter has been changed recently, and the spark plugs, and wires have also been changed. I'm really wondering if any one else has experinced this same problem or have any suggestions on what the problem might be. Thanks for any info.

How's the distributor cap, rotor, and battery? Could be some possibilities.

Well, the 4.0L shouldn't have distributor cap and rotor. It has the DIS (Distributorless Ignition System). This consists of a coil pack, cam sensor and crank sensor. I would have a shop read the codes from the EEC computer. Cam sensors have been known to cause problems like these on the 3.8L S/C cars, but before spending the money on parts, I would see if the trucks computer is finding any faults.
