Just a warning to anyone running WinXP or 2k...

In case you havn't been informed yet, there is a worm out that is taking advantage of !!SURPRISE SURPRISE!!! a vulnerability in Microsoft NT based OS's. You can get more information on the "Blaster Worm" on Microsoft's main page. It is highly recommended you take precautions to safeguard your system as soon as possible- I was hit the second I booted into Windows tonight.

Oh yeah, I'd just like to give a big F*@% YOU to Microsoft for releasing the worlds most vulnerable software, and another big F*@% YOU and ROT IN HELL to the pieces of SH!# who code these viruses.

That is all.

I agree !

I mean you would have though Microcrap would have learnt valuable lessons with win95 and Win98. But noooooo they have to go and release more OS's that seem to have more holes than a strainer!!!!!!!!!

I spent the better part of 5 hours today patching and updated all the pc's work because we are all on NT 4. Thankfully none were infected but dammit to hell Gates quit thinking of getting into the gaming market and putting others out of business and get your bloody damn act together you piss-ant!

Rant over.

I was infected...as far as I can tell, I've gotten rid of it. I spent 6 hours yesterday getting it out of my computer. I hate the fuckin ass holes who sit around and do shit like that to mess up other people's shit.

first i didnt think anything of it because XP has a bunch of shit that goes wrong daily ..then it kept restarting my computer and booting back up.

MS has its issues with the software, but remember, its the people who are doing the maliciousness that are causing the bulk of problems now. Automakers put on car alarms, but crooks find ways around them. Do we scream at GM because the door locks weren't adequate? Of course not. Again, MS has plenty of things they need to improve, but we should be cautious of blaming them for the maliciousness of others.

This security vulnebility patch was available a month before this worm like Virus.

There are "mutations", or variation of the MSBLAST.EXE worm. LOVESAN and TEEKID or something like that, they're the variations of it.

It predominently overloads the stack so Win XP shuts the system down and W2K just seems to cause the SVHOST or something like that to crash.

Basically if ppl had kept their pcs up to date with security patches none of this would have happend.

Not patching a pc is like not servicing your car, eventually its bound to shit itself one way or the other, directly or indirectly.

Re: Just a warning to anyone running WinXP or 2k...

Don't get mad at Microsoft when they announced the problem a month before the worm was released and told people to download the patch from Windows Update. I patch all my software every week and I never get viruses and I don't even run a virus scanner.

Granted Windows isn't the most secure platform but you need to realize that not a lot of people are making nearly as many viruses for Unix based system and they really aren't making any for the older Apple OSs. Just because they don't get infected doesn't mean they are solid.

Nothing Micro$oft does anymore really surprises me. Had they coded the software without vulnerabilities in the first place, it wouldn't have been an issue. But they did warn people a month in advance and release the patch to fix the issue, so I'll call it a draw.

This kind of points is very getting very tiring.

Firstly the pc was never made for the main stream market.
Secondly, the IBM architecture was never intended to be a good steady system, from the point of the begining till now, they'd merely patched up the architecture to accomodate for today's needs, there's way too many flaws.

Also, the Windows Operating system does a GREAT job, yes u heard me, I'd like to c u deal with issues such as deadlock, multi-user/programming environment, multi-tasking capabilities, memory protection, and hardware protection, network protocols, hardware compatibility with a flawless ability to support almost the majority of hardware with ANY given combination, various state each processes is running, ETC.

Also, such "vulnebilities" wouldn't exist if ppl wouldn't exploit them. Seriously.

Thirdly, nobody is forcing u to use microsoft, don't like it? U still have linux and unix operating system to play with. They're free, and ppl exploit them alot less too.
