HELP!!! B18 wont run over 2K RPMS!!!

I finally got my engine running but now i have a problem. The engine wont rev past 2000 rpm it just spudders and almost dies. Also the car wont start on its own i have to spray starting fluid in the intake and then it runs fine on its own.

What could the problem be??

Re: HELP!!! B18 wont run over 2K RPMS!!!

Im not sure about this particular swap, but I recall some others having this problem, and 2 of the sensors and their connectors were backwards... Id recheck that and your wiring...

Re: HELP!!! B18 wont run over 2K RPMS!!!

Depends, did u keep it preOBD or go ODB1? (which ECU did u use?) If u kept it preOBD then u just look at the ECU (should be an LED on the front of it when u move the carpet youll see it) and count the links, look them up on the internet, if its OBD1 then the check engine light should be on (if u hooked it up), if it is, ground the check engine light jumper (u should have wired a switch or something if u wired up OBD1) and count the blinks on the check engine light...

Re: HELP!!! B18 wont run over 2K RPMS!!!

i took the TPS sensor out of a d15 engine because the one on the B18 was broken. Can you not switch them?

Re: HELP!!! B18 wont run over 2K RPMS!!!

SORRY MY BAD, It was 16, 1 long one and 6 little ones. That would be the Fuel Injector System. Does that mean that the injectors are bad? I checked all my wiring and its all correct.

Re: HELP!!! B18 wont run over 2K RPMS!!!

yea, iv checked it 3 or 4 times. Since it was OBD1 all you had to do is hook the injecters straight up to the ECU and up to the ignition switch. I used color coded wires so it was pretty straight forward. It runs but it doggs down at about 2K. This happend to my 240sx once and it was 2 of the injectors. So tonight i will go switch out the injecters and see if that fixes the problem.

Re: HELP!!! B18 wont run over 2K RPMS!!!

did you get the tps from a 88-91 dx 1.5 d15b2 engine?
if you used the tps from that engine, then you have to switch the outer two wires on the tps...the 1.5 dx one and the ls one are wired differently.

i thought the TPS from the dual point engines turned the opposite direction.

i know that when you do the multipoint conversion, you need to switch two wires on the TPS plug, but if the dual point sensor operates differently, wouldnt that mean either its useless for multipoint? or if it can be used, wouldnt you have to leave the two wires alone?

Re: HELP!!! B18 wont run over 2K RPMS!!!

no...if you mount it backwards, it works...instead of pointing down to the left, it would point up and to the right
