No power to OBDII code reader
I have a 97 Rodeo 3.3L V6 and can't get the code reader to power up. I thought it was my reader so I bought a new one. Same problem, no power when I plug it into DLC. Used to work fine.
any ideas?? Thanks |

Re: No power to OBDII code reader
Check pin 16 in the connector for battery power. It ties into the power the horn uses so check your horn fuse if there is no power.

Re: No power to OBDII code reader
pin 4 and 5 should be ground, and don't trust that the horn working means there is power at the connector, check pin 16 for power

Re: No power to OBDII code reader
There is no power at terminal #16 on dlc. How can I fix this?

Re: No power to OBDII code reader
The easiest and fastest way is to cut the wire at the back of the terminal, just the one for pin 16, leaving enough to attach to, then add a wire to a power source, leaving the other side where you cut not connected to anything.. the other way is to pull the harness apart and find then repair the break in the wire.

Re: No power to OBDII code reader

Re: No power to OBDII code reader
Took your advice and now I have power to the DLC and will be able to read the codes on the OBDII reader once the self-testing cycle is complete. I mistakenly erased the codes when I plugged the reader in with my newly established 12 volt power.
Thanks again. T C |
