Re: any ideas??

Could be electrical part of ignition switch, not key.

Re: any ideas??

i had a similar but not exactly the same problem - car would run fine, but not restart when warm - would wait a while, then it would start and run fine. Turns out the ignition relay was failing when it was warm - maybe your relay is failing after being energized for a while.

That being said, a bad relay might not account for the gauges to spike then go dead, but a bad ground might.

good luck

Re: any ideas??

my mechanic today said no codes in the computer except old abs codes.. so he has had the car all wekend and it did it with him a few times he said he has seen similar instances where the crank shaft sensor is cracked and when hot it swell and oil enters the sensor component and causes iratic problems but he still is not sure, so he suggested we try that 1st so 31.00 for part 40.00 labor and we will see tonight...
