Ferrari 612 Scaglietti
Hey fellows. I'm taking on a new project and my first Ferrari
![]() Ok, so I started with the body. It was fairly well, some minor mold lines above the tail lights and around each of the side windows. A bunch of mold circles inside the body, so you have to make sure to take care of those too. ![]() I decided to make this one Nero (or black), so I laid a coat of gray primer to make sure of any missed mold lines etc.. Sanded those down and sprayed another coat of gray. ![]() I was a little disappointed with hinges for the hood. First off, it does not fit on the hood at all, nor does the part fit on the body...So you can try using super glue to make it work, or make your own. I will be making my own hinges. However, the hood fits perfectly to the body! ![]() ![]() Also, I test-fitted the back bumper, doesn't look like there is trouble with that. ![]() Finally I primed most of the body color parts (the body, the hood, the back bumper, the mirrors), still have the head lights to go, but they're chrome and require stripping. Test fitted all the parts in parentheses. ![]() Then I got to the wheels, they're in chrome which is a no no ![]() ![]() So I stripped the chrome off.... ![]() And whoila! The wheels are done. I sprayed them with Testors Aluminum Metalizer, clear coated, placed on the Ferrari logos, and clear coated again ![]() ![]() That's it for now. The PE parts are still on its way to me from UK so once I get those, hopefully I'll get a chance to start working on the engine. Top of the day to you guys. |

Re: Ferrari 612 Scaglietti
Thanks guys. I haven't gotten the PE set yet so I can do much on the car. But today I got the dashboard painted, tomorrow I will detail it and upload some pics.

Re: Ferrari 612 Scaglietti
Okay guys, I'm back from vacation so I didn't wait and painted the body black. It's my first experience with enamels but I like lacquers a bit more. I sprayed three mist coats last week, then I waited 24 hours to dry and I sprayed the first wet coat. Then I set it off for 3 days to put the last wet coat which was yesterday and today I took couple pics of the body. The paint left some sort of texture to it, but I hope after 9 more days of waiting the rubbing compound and wax will do it's trick.
![]() ![]() Question. Can I use the rubbing compound and wax without applying clear coat? And also, will it harm the body if I use automotive rubbing compound and wax on enamels?
