Review : Ferrari 612 Scaglietti (Revell Germany) Many PICS
Here's my excuse for a kit-review.
It's the latest real Revell-made kit, the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti. The car itself is correct to the proportions of the four-seater prancing horse, looks allright to the looks of it, the engravings are deep and crisp, flash is reduced to the absolute minimum (you have to look to find it) and the molding is good. The plastic that was used makes me think of fujimi; it's also a bit thickish, looks nice and is maybe a bit too shiny and will need some good tamiya primer covering before spraying it any colour you want. Engine , suspention, rims, chromes, everything is detailed well, but what I don't really like about this kit is the fat chroming on the grille (detail photo) that will be removed and replaced with some alclad. The clear plastics are of excellent manufacture and are both thin and very see-through without deforming the view. The Interior then; it's crisp, clean, nicely detailed, and looks very realistic. The seats are molded in two sides, and are very well detailed, if you look closely in the pic you will see a molded in seatbelt, which is the same as the one in the real car. In all respects, it's a very good small replica of the real car, albeit hindered by some small details, like for instance the too fat chroming and the lack of the tyre's name on the sidewalls of those (stupid detail, but important for some) otherwise, it's a nice collection piece that will look good next to your other horseys. I want to precise I haven't touched this kit yet, and have shitloads of stuff to finish, so I don't know about the fitment, but I think if it builds as good as it looks , then it s prolly very well made with a few fiddly areas, but nothing special A good basic out of the box build will this be for me , with few improvements. (did I say the scaglietti actually looks good in model, compared to the real horror?) Olivier Enjoy the pic, if any other questions, shoot. Oh yeah, Revell, 2005, 18€, 1/24th ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() One for the wheelnuts. ![]() and the sweet sweet decals ![]() there you go, I hope I have informed a few. Just wonderiing if anyone knows of a suitable paint, similar to the pearlescant blue used, as in the instructions, it says to use 4 different colours mied togeter, surely this won't work as they are mainly metallic paints.

Re: Review : Ferrari 612 Scaglietti (Revell Germany) Many PICS
Thank you, Oli! It looks pretty darn good, I'd say. I really like that they included so many decal for license plates, and from what I understand, most of them can be used on cars other than this 612. Good thinking Revell. I don't see any noticeable sink marks in your pics, even on the wheel spokes (which most Revell kits UI've seen do have). That's another step forward then!

Thanks for the review!
What's the deal with the license plates you're supposed to cut out?

That thing looks great, looks like Revell have released a "real" model.
The wheels look too good to be true..........!!! Thanks for sharing, Mike

well, jay,
you re welcome I didn't pay much attention to it, but to a closer look in the booklet, they actually tell you to cut around the decal for the front license plate, and use it actually like it is, so with the paper backing, something many modelers do to have a thinner looking license plate. They want you to glue the piece of decalled cardboard on like it is on the front. Interesting to say the least. Oli |

can you help
Oliver - thanks for the review!!
I will be recieving my kit next week but its a wierd one bought it on a local Polish "ebay" type site for 5USD!! from a buyer I've used in the past (he brought it form Germany). Unfortunately there is no box or instructions. Although I guess I could manage without the instructions it would be nice to have some reference. I have a favour to ask you (or anyone who can help). Would you be so king - if it's possible of course - to scan/fax me the instruction sheet? Cheers steven |

Good work with the pics, very useful. Does the pic of the decals mean that this car is not available in UK 1:1? Or is this another case of the EU ( Revell - Germany ) craping on the Brits
