turn signal problems

My left back turn signal gives me trouble every 3 to 6 months. I can replace the board that holds the bulbs and everything works fine for awhile. The problem is the back signal stops working, the front continues. The flasher makes a much faster clicking sound than usual. All other electronics work fine with the exception of I have replaced the radiator 5 times in 2 years with a current charge building up and burning a hole thru the radiators. Thought we had fixed that problem, but maybe these 2 are related? I did check last week with a voltage meter and it seems that the turn signal bulb showed a much higher number than the tail light and back up bulb. I do not remember the reading, but wouldn't that indicate a short if too much voltage is coming thru and burning up the board?

look at the wires running to lights and see if one got melted to another one? only other thing i no to do is try to make sure it's got good ground or replace bulbs and is water getting in there? also you might try another flasher that should atleast have 2.

Re: turn signal problems

I have replaced the bulbs and the flasher. The old bulbs are seldom blown, but I replace them just in case. I have looked under vehicle and into the body cavity by the tail light housing for bad or exposed wiring. Nothing there either. I have had other problems with my cruise control and turn signal arm not releasing after making a turn and letting the turn signals automatically turn off. I am starting to wonder if the short or problem may not be in that area. How hard is it to replace the turn signal arm with cruise control? I had a mechanic price doing this once before because of the cruise acting up, but I found this guy has not been able to solve other repeated problems so I think I would rather do this myself.

Have it and save money.
But.
Proper testing before throwing parts at it.
Get a volt meter or a old type bulb test light and check for where ity is losing voltage to the turn signal.
If a add on trailer plug check that wiring real close.
MANY PROBLEMS WITH QUICK CONNECTORS AND NOT SEALED/MOISTURE PROFFED RIGHT AND SOLDERED RIGHT.
If no problem there go to the wires from/out of turn signal switch and check there for lose of signal voltage.
Let us know how it that goes.
