I am seeing some all wheel steering preludes used. They have fairly low mileage and 2 are original owners(these are 1989 models). How dependable are these and what should I expect in terms of repair costs?

long term...
i've heard they handle great... they weigh considerably more though, and the system isn't easy to fix from what i've heard... be careful... low miles doesn't mean it's better. if it's low miles, it could be in a worse state of disrepair than a higher mileage car... it's a nice system, but if you can get it w/o it, you'll have less headaches in the long run |

The benifits dont outwieght the costs. I bought an S and gutted it and dropped a h22 in it. Much fatser.
I would like to see the ATTS from 5th gens on a 4th I think that would be nice. |

Ive got an 89 4ws with 325k miles and it still runs great. It is heavier cuz of the 4ws, but the handling is a trip. The steering rack did go out at 200k miles and cost me 700 bucks. Besides that the car has been mass reliable. It weighs more, but the 135 HP isnt the best to start with anyways. Ive always wanted a vtec and may put in a b16a. I would have gotten rid of this car a long time ago if not for the 4ws. I think the 4G 4ws with the VTEC would be bad ass and am glad to see there is at least one person here who has done it.

Honestly the 4WS inst that great of an option on the prelude! actually 4WS isnt all that great on any car except the 3000GT if im correct.. thats the only car that i know of that did extremly well on dependabilty and handling! O and dont waste the time and money for a b16a in a thrid gen! thats just a total waste of cash... ull be better off with a h22a..

If you are going for a swap, get a broken 4gen S with a terminally bad motor for cheap as hell, take the money you saved, and buy an H22 or H23.

I think its a good option, but I would like to check out an SH with that ATTS. If only I had the dough for one of those! In reality, I probably wont do anything with my Lude when the engines done cept part it out. I might have the dough for a 4th gener though. AF is a great site. My car will last awhile longer, and browsing this site will give me all sorts of ideas for my next Honda.
