1999 Venture - replacing serpentine belt?

1999 Venture with air - Replacing Serpentine Belt.

Can I do this from the top? I had a quick look and it sure does look like a tough job, not much working room, Any tips? I assume a 3/8 ratchet is all I need. Thanks

3/8" ratchet, and a minute of time, pretty easy from the top, I would suggest removing the wiper arm plastic cover to make it easier to see/ install. Piece of cake..... Good luck!

You can borrow a 3/8'' serpentine belt tool for a small deposit at any local Auto parts store.

Sorry to jump in here late, but don't buy that belt wrench above! I have one and its too long to fit down in this van and pull the adjuster back with. You will end up just using your 3/8 drive anyway (which is too short for comfort). Maybe if you cut that long handle in half it might fit. . .

I bought a cheapo 3/8 drive from sears that was just the right length to give enough leverage but still fit in the space available in there. Since it was a cheapo, I positioned the drive just right and then hit the ratchet with a punch to lock it in place permanently. Its a belt tensioner tool now

NICE, thanks for the info man......... :-) BTW my brothers 94 Caviler Wagon is a SOB to change the belt on (couldnt fit a ratchet into it, so I just wheeled up on the belt by hand and pulled it off the alternator, back on the same way......)
